Malaysia Airports has released a mobile app for KL International Airport (KLIA) that allows travellers to plan their trips in detail beforehand.

The MYairports app has been designed as a user-friendly airport travel guide that helps passengers navigate their way from home until the boarding gate in the shortest time possible.

MYairports, which is currently available in English and Bahasa Malaysia, has been integrated with Big Data Analytics (BDA).

“With this app, you will be able to get live updates on flight information, time left to board your flights, shopping and dining promotions and important airport information. More excitingly, our MYairports app will feature dynamic way-finding around KLIA.”

The launch of MYairports indicates the progression of Malaysia Airports towards embracing the Airports 4.0 digital initiative, real-time digital interaction with passengers is critical.

At present, Malaysia Airports is going through a digital transformation programme which includes use of BDA and the Internet of Things (IoT) devices to improve the airport operations by forecasting traffic flows, managing facilities for passengers and reducing queue time and congestion.

Badlisham further added: “For now, the app features information about KLIA Main Terminal. However, information on klia2, the second terminal will soon be made available, followed by the rest of the international airports.

“Other more exciting features in the coming phases will include live queue times at various touchpoints at the airport such as check-in and immigration counters, as well as security checkpoints. For shoppers, the ecommerce feature will enable purchases to be bought online and picked up at the airport upon arrival.”
